A new Sustainable Procurement Charter

We have two key targets to become a carbon neutral council. One of these means that we want to work with suppliers that are providing the Council with goods, works or services to support our targets by reducing their own emissions.

This new Charter has four key principles we want suppliers to achieve. This includes recognising the need to protect and enhance the District's high quality environment, whilst tackling climate change and improving waste management.

We will use this charter to ensure that all new contracts include ambitious sustainability commitments and drive down carbon emissions in the supply chain. It will also allow us to get better carbon data, particularly from our main suppliers.

Now that the Charter has been approved it will be designed and published on our website for prospective suppliers to view.
