Repair Cafes across the country are invited to join in the nation's Big Fix campaign this month; a UK-wide celebration of repair. Last year, 50 Repair Cafés and 580 volunteers took part in The Big Fix, mending 1,100 items and saving 31 tonnes CO2e!
Skilled menders, fixers, and tailors from all over the country will give their time and expertise for free to help fix items that might have otherwise been thrown away. Other volunteers help in organising the visitors and running the café supplying teas and coffees, and refreshments.
We have an active community of volunteers here in the Horsham District, offering Repair Cafes in Horsham, Henfield, Beeding and Bramber Village Hall, Storrington, with more coming soon including at Shipley and Pulborough.
These repair cafes offer an invaluable free repair service for worn-out and broken items, from small electrical items to toys and clothing, which all helps to avoid unnecessary waste as well as helping people save money by encouraging repair and reuse. It's a win win all round.
