A new Shipley community hub launched this month thanks to the hard work of local volunteers.
The launch event on Tuesday 2 May was a great success and featured a repair cafe, eco-refill station, a seed swap shop, and some great refreshments too. A hover board, lampshade and a pair of earrings all came in to be fixed, as well as a sewing machine that will be restored for people to be able to use as the first hub project.
The day raised almost £200 which will be put towards a defibrillator In the heart of the village for community use. Their work will then focus on turning the garden into a shared community space for the future.
The new hub will open on the first Tuesday of each month in St Andrew Hall from 11am - 4pm.
Can you help support this hub?
The organisers are looking for volunteers to help, including those with skills such as sewing, soldering, electronics, woodworking and more.
If you are able to volunteer your services, or help with the refreshments, please contact Sarah Cuthbertson.
