VE Day 80

We will be marking the Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) 80th anniversary in Horsham town centre on Thursday 8 May with a range of activities and events.
Event line-up
Ringing out for Peace
The evening event starts at St Mary’s Church in the Causeway with St Mary's Bell ringers 'Ringing out for Peace' between 6.30pm and 7pm.
The Sussex Band of the Royal British Legion performance
We then encourage the community to join us at the Carfax Bandstand between 7pm to 9pm to enjoy music from the Sussex Band of The Royal British Legion. Some of our local businesses and market operators will be joining us until late to host food and drink too.
Closing ceremony and beacon lighting
The evening closes at the War Memorial, Carfax with a ceremony and beacon lighting between 9.15pm to 9.30pm
Street parties
Residents wishing to mark the occasion on the Monday bank holiday (5 May) with their own street party can apply for free street closure.
Residents must complete a temporary road closure application if they want to hold a VE Day street party.
