Drill Hall: Conditions of hire

Please see below a list of some of the key conditions that apply when hiring Horsham's Drill Hall.  A full list of Terms and Conditions together with Health and Safety information will be sent on receipt of the Hirer Enquiry Form

Alcohol

No alcohol may be taken outside. Alcohol can be sold until 30 minutes before the finish time.    The Drill Hall has a Premises License which means alcohol can be consumed within the building but only if someone with a Personal Licence is present or a Temporary Event Notice has been obtained by the hirer. Evidence of this must be shown to the hall supervisor at least two weeks prior to the event.

Animals

Only guide dogs for the blind and other assistance animals are permitted inside the building.

Booking times

These must include the time required for setting up and clearing away. Additional hours beyond those agreed in the booking will be charged pro rata.

Cancellation of booking

Notification of cancellation of a booking must be made in writing to the Drill Hall.

  • Over two month’s notice: No charge
  • 1-2 month's notice: 50% of full charge to be paid (minimum £50)
  • Less than 1 month notice: 100% of full charge to be paid

Regular hirers (over 10 bookings a year) must give 30 days notice for any cancellation to their annual booking. The Council reserves the right to cancel the booking in an emergency.

Deposits

If booked more than four weeks before the hall hire, 20% of the fee to be paid with the booking confirmation on receipt of an invoice. Full payment is required four weeks prior to the booking following receipt of invoice.

The hirer will be responsible for any loss or damage incurred during the hire period. We reserve the right to invoice you for any loss or damage to the Dill Hall and its property which is attributed to a member or members of the party.

Electrical safety

Any electrical equipment must have a current portable appliance test certificate. It will be visually inspected before its use is permitted.

Fire exits

Fire exits must be kept clear at all times.

Gas

No equipment powered by gas canisters is permitted inside the building.

Insurance

Commercial and Business users must have a third party insurance to the value of £10million. Evidence of this must be shown at least two weeks prior to the event.

Security

Licensed security staff may be required for some events.

Smoking

We operate a strict no smoking policy with no smoking permitted inside the building.

Wax candles

Wax candles are not permitted inside the building. LED alternatives are often more practical, especially in large numbers.
