Register to vote

It’s quick, free and easy to register to vote online. You can register to vote if you are:

  • 16 or over (you cannot vote until you are 18)
  • A British citizen or citizen of the Irish Republic
  • A Commonwealth citizen or a citizen of an EU qualifying country

Click the button below to register to vote. You will need your National Insurance number. Your National Insurance number is on your payslip, P60, or letters about tax, pensions and benefits.

I've lost my National Insurance number

For each election, a deadline date is published after which it is not possible to add people to the Electoral Register. The deadline is usually 12 working days before an election.
