About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for an Environmental Operative (Loader) to work within the Recycling and Waste teams.
The work will include early morning starts and working outside in all types of weather. It is physically demanding work which includes walking up to 10 miles per day.
Full training and PPE will be provided for you including boots.
Do you also aspire to develop your career into becoming one of our HGV drivers? If so, join as a loader, perform well in your probation, and there may be an opportunity to be sponsored by the council for your driver training. Whilst we cannot guarantee you will move immediately into a driver post, as that will depend on vacancies, it is likely that you will be asked to drive during peak periods of annual leave and other absences. On those occasions, you will receive the salary based on our Driver grades.
In return, you will be working for one of the best waste collection authorities in the area working out of a depot with modern facilities and a great team environment.
Bank holiday working is contractual, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day. Where bank holidays are worked, pay is at the rate of triple time for each bank holiday. Saturday catch-up working is contractual at Christmas and New Year, paid at the rate of time and a half.
About you:
To succeed as an Environmental Operative (Loader), you will need to be a team player with outstanding values and behaviours that align with those of the organisation. You will need to demonstrate that you have a flexible attitude by working in other areas across our services and support other colleagues in the department when you are operationally required to do so.
For an informal discussion about this role please call Paul Greenslade, Operations Manager on 07826 537807.
