Council supports local restriction business support grants

30 Nov 2020

Horsham District Council will be distributing two different government-funded grants to businesses that were required to close during the national lockdown period.

A discretionary scheme provided by an Additional Restrictions Grant is for businesses who do not receive a rates bill from the Council but are required to close during the current lockdown restrictions. Or businesses who are not required to close, but are nevertheless severely impacted by the restrictions.

In addition, there also exists a Local Restrictions Support Grant (Closed) which is for businesses that do receive a rates bill from the Council and are required to close during the current lockdown restrictions.

The grants are to cover the four-week lockdown period and will be paid to each eligible business. Businesses with more than one qualifying property can receive more than one grant.

Please check your eligibility before you apply to ensure you apply for the correct scheme.

Commenting on the schemes, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for the Local Economy Cllr Paul Clarke said:

“As a council we are committed to helping local businesses through this pandemic.

“We very much welcomed the news that the Government was providing further support to local small businesses during this second national lockdown.

I would urge any eligible businesses who have not done so to start applying under this round of funding now while the funds last.
