Council enables warmer, more energy efficient homes for Horsham District

18 Jan 2021

Horsham District Council, in partnership with other neighbouring local authorities has secured new funding through the Green Homes Grant Local Authority Delivery Scheme to help local residents save money and improve the energy efficiency of their homes in the Horsham District.

There is up to £10,000 of funding available per household for qualifying measures which will improve the energy efficiency rating of a property. The programme has been set-up to provide funding for solid wall insulation and heat pumps and it can also fund other energy efficiency improvements such as low carbon heating.

The scheme is operating on a first-come, first-served basis and until 31 March 2021 only, so qualifying applicants are urged to get their applications in as soon as possible.

The scheme is aimed at residents with a household income of up to £30,000, living in a property with a low energy rating performance of E, F or G.

Commenting on the availability of the new scheme, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Community Matters and Wellbeing Cllr Tricia Youtan said:

“With residents spending more time at home currently as a result of the pandemic, it has become more important than ever for them to keep their houses warmer.

The beauty of this scheme is that it can achieve warmer homes for the District’s residents, whilst also helping them to do their bit to become more energy efficient and help the local environment.

“I would encourage as many residents as possible to find out if they are eligible then apply for the funds before they run out.”
