Calling all jobseekers: Register now for the 2021 Horsham District Jobs and Skills Fair

Following the success of previous Horsham District Jobs and Skills Fairs, the fair will return this year in digital format on 28 April 2021, with the opportunity for local job hunters to explore hundreds of jobs, apprenticeships, volunteering and training opportunities.

Over the past four years the Jobs and Skills Fairs, organised by Horsham District Council, have seen some 2000 job opportunities showcased with hundreds of people finding new positions or new career paths, as well as receiving plenty of advice about careers and job finding.

This year will be no exception as the virtual jobs fair looks to build on previous successes.

Job seekers are asked to register ahead of the online event to receive updates and free resources to help grow their employability skills and to help the Council match them to local employer requirements.

Employers currently registered to take part in the online event include Proud to Care, Border Force UK; Sussex Police, Metricell; RAF; West Sussex County Council; Horsham District Council; Brooks Life Sciences (Dorking); Chichester College Group; Thakeham Group; Specsavers and South Lodge Hotel. So far some 25 employers have expressed an interest to attend with over 500 vacancies. More are expected and will be shared with anyone who registers with us.

Commenting on the event, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, Cllr Paul Clarke said:

This is a free event for anyone who is job hunting, thinks they want to change their job, start a new career or get some training to do something different in their working life.

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly impacted the lives of people in our local area, not least in terms of their prospects for employment.

Local businesses are recruiting for roles right now in industries that you may have never considered before.

It’s a chance to look beyond what you've done before and broaden your horizons to something new, so I would encourage as many people as possible to register in advance for this valuable event.

It’s a win, win for our local economy.

The fair will be hosted on an easy-to-access dedicated website built by the Council.

Each business will have a dedicated page, which will act like an exhibition stand at a physical event. Participants can visit a business’s page to find out more about the organisation, what it’s like to work there, links to current vacancies and ways to contact them about opportunities available.

The website will also include a range of videos and written resources to help your employability skills, for example how to write a CV or improving your interview technique.
