Award recognition for our Building Control team

Congratulations go out to two of Horsham District Council’s employees who have been selected as regional winners in the 2021 South East Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards. They are now going forward to the national finals.

Their recognition has been achieved in the People and Place Awards category for 2021.

The individuals are:

• Newcomer of the Year award: Connor Hesling, Apprentice Building Control Surveyor
• Public Service Superstar award: Sarah Collard, Customer Support Administrator

Both individuals work in the Council’s Sussex Building Control team.

Another South East Regional winner and a shortlisted finalist in the Best New Build category (non- residential) is Deacon and Richardson Architects for their role in designing and developing the new Glebe Surgery in Storrington. Sussex Building Control worked with the developers on this project in a regulatory capacity. The end result is a well designed and constructed building for the community and practice staff.

Commenting on the success, Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Development Cllr Lynn Lambert said:

I am delighted that Sussex Building Control have done so well this year in these prestigious awards. I congratulate all the award shortlistees and wish them the very best of luck in the national finals.

This recognition very much reflects the high levels of professionalism and effective working relationships that have been achieved.

The national Building Excellence Awards will take place on Friday 28 January 2022.
