Public realm improvements are now underway to Forum Walk, West Walk and Blackhorse Way crossover areas in Horsham Town Centre.
The works started in mid-August and are set to be completed within 12 weeks.
The improvements will include replacing the existing paving with new granite paving, linking West Street via West Walk south to the Forum area.
Horsham District Council has worked in conjunction with West Sussex County Council to deliver the scheme which will also see the Blackhorse Way pedestrian crossing completely renewed.
Public access will be maintained at all times during the improvements works.
Commenting on the improvements Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for Horsham Town Centre said:
As a council we are committed to preserving and improving the town centre.
Through the delivery of this scheme and upcoming schemes in the town, we are aiming to transform the everyday experience people have of our outdoor spaces, and create well designed public spaces and streets.
The term “public realm” is used to describe the public spaces between shops and buildings. It generally includes pedestrianised shopping areas, town centre roads, pavements, lighting, public seating, street furniture and trees.
