HDC councillors Roger Noel and Christian Mitchell pitch in with the planting

Horsham and Crawley Samaritans, Friends of Horsham Park and Horsham District Council held a Bulbs for Lives community project to plant thousands of spring bulbs marking Horsham and Crawley Samaritans’ 50 years at their current base in Denne Road, Horsham town centre.

The bulb planting took place over the weekend of 22 and 23 October. Volunteers were asked to come along to help plant 6221 mixed crocus and 6221 narcissus bulbs to create a beautiful carpet of spring flowers in the Park next spring and for many years to come - 6221 being the number of people who took their own lives in the UK in 2021.

The flowers will also acknowledge the invaluable work that the Samaritans do, with the ultimate aim of reducing the number of those who take their own lives.
