Have your say on climate action strategy for Horsham District

Published: 26 Jun 2023

Horsham District Council has produced a draft Climate Action Strategy to support the whole of Horsham District to become carbon neutral by 2050 and is inviting local residents, businesses, community groups and key partners to give their views on it.

The draft strategy outlines a 10-year action plan for the not just for the Council but Council, key partners and the wider community and will facilitate the collective action needed to build a resilient future for generations to come across the District.

Residents are invited to have their say on what climate actions they think are the most important for the District, as well as sharing what they are already doing or would consider doing, if more support was available.

The survey is open from 26 June and closes 31 August. Both the draft strategy and the survey is available on our Climate Change Action Strategy webpage.

Take the survey

The survey should take between 10-15 minutes to complete. It is not essential to have read the draft strategy before completing the survey.

Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Climate Action and Nature Recovery Cllr Colette Blackburn commented:

A vital component of the draft Strategy is collaboration, whilst building on the work that the Council and others are already taking on climate change. Tackling climate change will require action from residents, businesses, community groups and partner organisations.

I encourage you all to take this opportunity to share your vision of what climate action within the District should look like by completing the survey, as this feedback will help shape the final Strategy.

Achieving carbon neutrality will be challenging. However, becoming better prepared for the impacts that the changing climate is already having will also create opportunities and benefits, such as improving health and wellbeing, uniting communities, and creating innovation potential for businesses.

Residents can find out more about our Climate Action work on our Climate and Environment webpage. Including what climate actions are already taking place across the District, a Climate Action blog, plus local events, campaigns, and advice and tips on actions that everyone might like to take to help tackle climate change.
