We are delighted that one of our three regional Sussex Building Control winners went on to scoop the top spot in the Grand Finals of the national Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Awards for 2023, held in Grosvenor House Hotel, London.
The Awards, which are the largest business to business awards in the building control sector, recognise quality, innovation, craftsmanship and compliance in all types of building construction projects, as well as the people involved. The national awards cover all local authorities in England and Wales.
They highlight the vital contribution public sector building control teams make as part of the project team, ensuring safe, sustainable, and high-quality construction projects.
For designs collaborating with Sussex Building Control, DK Planning and Design won Best Residential and Small Commercial Designer.
DK Planning and Design are advocates of LABC and enthusiastic champions of working with Sussex Building Control. The nomination showcased four projects in the local area involving remodelling, extensions, and alternations.
On top of that, our regional winners this year did tremendously well competing with other entries across the South-East region. Congratulations to K Black and Sons (KBS), award finalists winning the highly competitive category for Best Residential and Small Commercial Builder. Other finalists included, Ross McCartney achieving Newcomer of the year for the South-East region and DMA Designs were highly commended for the partnership with Sussex Building Control.

Sussex Building Control is the Local Authority Building Control service for Horsham District Council and Crawley Borough Council. Every year Sussex Building Control nominate a small number of their best projects and people they have worked with to the LABC Building Excellence Awards. All the regional winners are put forward to the grand finals.
The awards celebrate outstanding projects and individual contributions to the construction industry.
