Members of Billingshurst community groups are being asked to share their thoughts on suggested infrastructure improvements for their parish in a new survey.

As part of Horsham District Council’s commitment to pursue public realm improvements in the District, the Council is looking to deliver upgrades to the community facilities that serve the residents and businesses of Billingshurst via a new Community Fund and Investment Programme.

The Council is co-ordinating the programme, called Better Billingshurst, and is looking for feedback to inform its early stage scoping work from a broad range of community groups and key stakeholders such as Billingshurst Parish Council, Billingshurst Sports and Recreation Association and Billingshurst Community Partnership, as well as reaching out to local schools, scout groups and churches amongst others.

The wider programme for delivering infrastructure improvements in Billingshurst will include a fuller public consultation at a later date.

Commenting on the investment programme Horsham District Council Cabinet Member for Planning and Infrastructure Cllr Ruth Fletcher said:

As a council we committed in our 2024/25 Annual Plan to establish an infrastructure development fund for Billingshurst.

Our next step is to engage with a wide range of community groups in Billingshurst so that our plans are shaped by local priorities and ideas.

We look forward to hearing their views and gaining this valuable insight and we will follow this up with a public consultation.

The Council has initially identified potential improvements to infrastructure in Billingshurst across five key themes:

  • Community Facilities
  • Sustainable Travel and Movement (Walking, Wheeling, Cycling)
  • Green Infrastructure
  • Sports and Recreation
  • Village Centre Car Parks

This initial survey asks for views on the current provision within these key themes and the potential for improvements that organisations consider could benefit residents, community groups and other parts of the Billingshurst community.
