Calling all Horsham District good causes - your chance to win £500

Published: 16 Oct 2024

Celebrating our fifth birthday with your chance to win £500 for your cause

Horsham District Community Lottery is now five years old. To celebrate it is giving local charities and good causes the chance to win a special £500 for their group in the December draw.

For new organisations, if you sign up and go live with the lottery by 25 November, you will be entered into the prize draw for your chance to win. Existing lottery organisations will be automatically entered into the draw.

It’s free, quick and easy to register to fundraise through our local lottery. Once your charity has been approved you will get:

  • The ability to ask your supporters to ‘give’ with a chance to win
  • Weekly cash prizes up to £25,000 and monthly Super Draw prizes
  • Your own public Good Cause webpage and private dashboard on the lottery website
  • An ongoing variety of downloadable marketing materials
  • Regular monthly payments.

Horsham District Community Lottery was launched in 2019 to help local not-for-profit and charity groups fundraise online. It was launched by the community, for the community of Horsham District.

It’s a weekly draw, tickets are £1 each and most supporters play by paying a monthly direct debit from as little as *£4.34 a month (*1 ticket a week paid monthly).

Selling just 20 lottery tickets a week will see you raise £1,000 a year for your good cause, not to mention any donations you could get from lucky winners!  There is no limit to how many people can buy tickets to support your charity either, so the sky really is the limit.

For every £1 donated:

  • 50% goes to the good cause, paid out every month
  • 10% goes to Horsham District Community Lottery Central fund, used to further fund Horsham District Council’s Lottery Good Causes.
  • 20% goes to the prize pot
  • 20% goes to the administration and running costs of the lottery.

Any local not-for-profit or charity organisation can apply. There is no catch, it’s free to use Horsham District Community Lottery to fundraise for your charity.

Horsham District Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Communities and Wellbeing Cllr Sam Raby commented:

Horsham District Community Lottery has raised over £275,400 for local causes since it was launched in 2019. The impressive sum, along with the means to easily engage supporters with the simple fundraising set up, has made a significant difference for the charities and good causes that use the lottery. This year our causes are on track to raise over £54,400.

I encourage organisations that haven’t yet set up a page to take advantage of the extra £500 prize available and register to fundraise before 25 November.

All groups involved are also given marketing support to help them reach out to their supporters.

Register and be live on the lottery by 25 November to be entered into the lottery's fifth birthdaydraw. The lucky winner will be announced following the draw.
