Horsham District Council Chairman Cllr Nigel Emery attended a special club event at the Crawley and Horsham Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club in Westlake House Care Home in Horsham on 24 October.
The Club hosted a visit from Richard Hislop, the Falkland Island Government’s Representative in the UK who gave a presentation and met with Falkland Island veterans in the Club which was followed by lunch.
Cllr Emery commented:
It was really lovely to meet and chat with the veterans of the Falklands war and residents of Westlake. I found the presentation on life today in the Falklands to be fascinating.
The Crawley and Horsham Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Club is part of a growing network of Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs which meet across the UK and worldwide. They are a group of veterans and serving members of the His Majesty’s Armed Forces.
Their purpose is to facilitate veterans and serving Armed Forces personnel to meet face to face in a relaxed, safe, social environment to enjoy breakfast and help combat loneliness, allowing veterans to ’return to the tribe’.
