As part of its commitment to helping vulnerable and struggling residents and those hit by the cost-of-living crisis, Horsham District Council hosted a community support networking day at Ashington Community Centre on Thursday 7 November.
Voluntary and community organisations, alongside NHS and West Sussex County Council services, form the Council’s key community partners, who together play a vital role in enabling much-needed services to reach residents facing hardship, be it financial, emotional or health related.
The marketplace event saw some 40 different community organisations gather to network with each other, share updates and discuss the changing needs and emerging concerns of struggling residents locally.
The event was also for an invited audience of individuals, working across the District at grass root community level. Residents' needs are increasingly complex, and involve multiple issues, often broader than the remit of an adviser's role or expertise. This event sought to help address this by bringing them together with community support organisations, to help make connections and highlight the range of support available in the District.
The event provided a great platform for community service providers and individuals to come together, away from their day jobs with a common aim to improve the lives of residents of all ages and abilities.
