Monkmead Woods

Monkmead Woods is located along the River Chilt, a tributary of the River Arun. The site is made up of Willow, Alder and Birch woodland, heathland and quaking bog habitats. These mixed habitats create a mosaic of wet, damp and dry areas rich in biodiversity.

There is a small car park off Monkmead Lane with a public bridleway and several permissive footpaths through the woodland.

Volunteering at Monkmead Woods

Horsham Green Gym is a nature conservation group run by volunteers, with support from Horsham District Council.

The groups meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays at parks and open spaces around the district, including Monkmead Woods.
