Bartholomew Way Play Improvements

We're working on ideas to improve the play opportunities for children in north Horsham. If you live to the north of the railway and to the east of Tylden Way, we would like to hear your thoughts on a potential plan for a new play area within the woodland between Bartholomew Way and Lemmington Way.

We're aware that the play areas at Standen Place and Bignor/Lanyon Close are well below standard. North Horsham was developed with lots of small play spaces very close together and with little green space around the play areas. Through our Horsham District Play Strategy, we have been seeking to improve children's play areas by focusing on larger play spaces that can be integrated into the landscape to maximise play value and provide opportunity for families within the community to meet each other.

Having reviewed the Standen Place and Bignor/Lanyon Close play areas and their proximity to the other more recently refurbished play areas, we propose removing the equipment and fencing at both and returning them to grass. We could then create a brand-new play space within the woodland between Bartholomew Way and Lemmington Way. The need to carry out some essential works to clear Bartholomew Way woodland of Ash trees could provide us with an exciting opportunity to do this.

The new play space would occupy at least the same quantity of space as the two removed play areas and would allow us to provide more play in the wider woodland using wooden equipment with steel footings to provide durability and integration into its natural setting.

If you live in this part of Horsham, we would be grateful if you could fill in this short survey.
